Staying Active is Good for Your Health

Active living is the emphasis at Waterford Crossing.  Residents volunteer with the nearby Prairie View Elementary School, attend concerts, take short trips, play games together, work on personal projects in the privacy of their homes or apartments, and are in control of their lives and schedules.

Keeping active at whatever level of exertion you are capable of is important to maintain health. Activities need to be meainigful and mult-faceted.  It is important to have spiritual enrichment activities, social recreational, and physical activities as well as fun and entertainment.

Opportunities to volunteer abound and we work on projects beyond ourselves like tieing blankets for newborns, collecting mittens and hats for children in need, supporting the Alzheimer's Association and collecting food for the food pantry. When tasks that stress you are removed from your responsibility, there is more energy left for activities you desire; things like gardening, needlework, stamp collecting, painting, babysitting grandchildren or volunteering.
